Captain Meme? [The Latest Trailers]

So, we’re coming to the end of the month and I would love to have a look at the latest trailer releases and give a few of my thoughts,

So to start off I wanted to take a look at was the teaser for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I used to love when I would get home from school and watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch on repeat. The sassy aunts, the sassy cat Salem, the magic, the sass. It was perfect! and this trailer gives me hope, I’ve been really enjoying Riverdale, so to see another show coming from their executive producers along with the combination of Sabrina I think this could be really good. As for this teaser, it already seems very creepy and it seems that they’re really taking Sabrina out of the sass zone. I am definitely looking forward to the release on October 26th.

It seems that September wanted to go big on the nostalgia. The next trailer that had me excited was for Mary Poppins Returns. I was enamoured by the original Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, It was funny, told a story and had some excellent musical numbers and now 54 years later we’re getting an updated version. My one hope for the new film is that it keeps the magic, which by the look of the trailer it will. I have a feeling that when this is released it will be the same as Incredibles 2 and the theatres will be full of adults watching and forcing their kids along for the ride for what will hopefully be over an hour of nostalgia. I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of it being the original Banks children all grown up. I’m sure that Emily Blunt will do a great justice to Mary and from what we hear in the trailer it sounds like she’s alright at singing.

The next film that has interested me is The Oath. To start, I’m not American and also not very political, but this looks like an interesting film. I enjoy Ike Barinholtz, I find him to be very funny and it seems like it’s written really well. His time in Disaster Movie was my favourite. All in all though, this looks like a good slapstick comedy, i’ll just be interested to see the film and how it all works.

And last but not last, we come to the most exciting trailer of the month for me. Captain goddamn Marvel. This film looks amazing, but then what else can you expect from a Marvel film in 2018… And how nineties can you get, landing in a Blockbuster. Brie Larson looks ready to fight, and after seeing her in Room i’m ready to see her act in a great action film. We’re also getting a young Nick Fury which is exciting for me to see where he came from, and how close his relationship with Captain Marvel is. As I haven’t read any of the comics i’m very interested to see where they’re going to take this film. I have two favourite shots in the trailer, The first being the final shot of Brie Larson glowing with her eyes before they cut away to the Captain Marvel logo, and the other being the shot of her hitting the old lady on the Subway, as much of the internet obviously enjoyed as it is already a wonderful meme.

All in all, it’s been a pretty good month for trailers and I’m looking forward to everything that is coming out in the next 12 months.
